How Harman Singh Johar is Transitioning from Edible Insects to Smokable Grass

Harman Singh Johar's story so far includes being a first-generation immigrant whose family in northern India is made almost entirely out of entrepreneurs. He is a Punjabi Sikh, and he feels the religion's emphasis on community and helping others is at the core of his motivations.

Johar often works feverishly on his projects, and, at 25 years old, he and his insects-as-food innovations have already been widely recognized. His schedule seems daunting as I chat with him briefly at a coffee shop just 24 hours before he's jetting off to Buenas Aires. But his attitude, at least in casual meetings, feels more surfer or snowboarder than globe-trotting businessman.
